error 1068: The dependancy service or group failed to start (backup exec)

This error is for almost all backup exec services. Backup exec opens but
then comes up with the login box and again will not restart services or allow
me in if I type the username and password.

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Tried a clean reinstallation?

I really want to try and fix the problem rather then a full reinstallation.
I have lots of Backup jobs saved and setting that I would lose.

Similar thing happened to us at least a year ago (i.e. before SP2 for w2k3).

Some BackupExec services (which should) don't start automatically after
re-boot.
My re-boot check list now ends with 'Restart all Backup Exec services in the
app console'.

If you save your catalogs then you could do a clean install, then re-import
your catalogs so you won't lose any backups.

Check the user account the backup exec is using.
Maybe is disable, if not reset the password and try to restart the server.

Also check the event log.
