I have been getting this error message on a Windows Server 2003 SP1 about
every 5 min for about 8 months.

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Windows Product Activation
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1000
Date: 8/27/2007
Time: 9:47:12 AM
User: N/A
Computer: ****** (Removed)
Description:
An error occurred while the wizard was checking the current Windows product
license. Error Code: 8: 0x8007000e

Thx for the fast post. Yes I have read the solutions posted on eventid.net
and would just like to make sure I understand the issue. I have read on
other newsgroups that the error code "8: 0x8007000e" could be related to a
memory leak. The option at the end on the eventid.net site was the option I
was going to try.

Hi Sabatogz,

Is the event logged right after a reboot? -If it still does then it doesnt
really seem like a memory leak to me, as that would typically be cleared up
at least for a short time.
Do you have free memory and disk space?
Do you have any other symptoms?
Are there any other related event ids in your log?
Were there any new installs or configurations 8 months ago when this
started, or did it start happening out of the blue?
Do you have windows updates set to automatically download updates to your
server? Its possible that the folder they download to (WINDOWS\Software
Distribution\Download) has some corrupted download files, delete everything
in the download folder to see if this fixes it.

Available Physical Memory: 138 MB
Page File: Max Size: 2,987 MB
Page File: Available: 652 MB
Page File: In Use: 2,335 MB

Other Event IDs: 1030, 1097

C Drive (Only Drive) 33.8 GB, Free 25.3 GB

System was restarted on 2-27-07 Ran clean for about 103 days 08-08-07

No new Installs or updates since last reboot.

Updates are set to download but I install them.

There are a lot of folders and files in the downloaded folder section.

You have some high memory usage, are you running Exchange or SQL or any
other large app on this server?
Did you happen to notice if the server memory usage, after reboot, started
out low, and gradually over the last 103 days rose to where it is now? or
was it this high 90 or so days ago?

What are the source and description of the 1030 and 1097event ids?

You can go ahead and delete the files within the
WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download if you wish as they are just a
temporary area for windows update to run the downloaded installs from.
