I've installed a Vista Business 'N' on a PC (new install, old machine) - and
attempted to install the Windows Mobile Device Center Driver Update.

The installation fails - "The update could not be installed because at least
one Windows component required by Windows Mobile Device Center is missing"

WTH???

I have read others having the same issue with Vista Business - but not
having issues with other versions of Vista (ultimate).

There is nothing, as far as I can tell - that says what is missing.

Resolved - sort of.

Initial installation was Windows Vista Business N (oops - did I really
install the Euro version?)... Apparently the EU version of Vista Business is
crippled and does not have a component that is necessary...

I replaced the N O/S with the regular Vista Business (not N, this time) and
connected - my device was found but would not sync. I ran the update for
WMDC - and all is good.

So - what's 'cryptled' in the N version?

Hi there,

two Days ago i switched from XP Prof to Vista Business N 64x because I
wanted a N version and 64bit OS.

No i got exactly the same problem u had, but i do not want to switch to
another Vista version.

So does anyone know what to do with this "missing windows
component"-error? If it helps, my Cisco Systems VPN client wont install
either (similar Error-Message).

Please help a frustrated Vista-Newbie :(

edit: N aint the Europe Version, but the Version without wmp, msn
moviemaker and stuff, right?
