I have a new computer running Vista Home Premium (32 bit). When I attempt to
start WMP, I get the following: file wmplayer.exe has a version number of
11.0.5721.5142 where 11.0.6000.6336 was expected. When I attempt to reload
from Microsoft site, it will not allow saying I have a more recent version.
How can I correct this? Don't tell to reload from disk as manufacture did
not supply one.

Hi Capt--

This might help:

When you try to use Windows Media Player 11, the program does not start, or
some UI elements are blank

To run the cmds from an eleavated prompt, type cmd in the search box above
Start>rt. click cmd when it comes up>run as admin.

You also might get help searching for the error at these three prime help

I tried everything you suggested. None worked for me.
