Windows Media Player stopped showing video, only sound

"There is a more recent version of Windows Media Player (11.0.6000.6344)
already installed on your computer. It is not possible to use an older
installation package (11.0.5721.5146)
to install the files or to repair your current version of the Player."

I need the more recent version so I can repair it, please get me that one, I
contacted Microsoft and they said you would have it and were supposed to help
me.

I read posts all over the net narrowed down to wmv2 files/streams and above

My manufacture HP has not helped in giving me the most recent version
installed with my laptop so I can reinstall and repair, cant unistall it
either please help thanks

you cannot install wmp11 on top of vista like that... you could do a repair
installation from the dvd, but trust me.. you would want to avoid that.

Your problem is not wmp11 at all but something has gone wrong with a codec

download www.divix.com

and this http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Koepi_XviD.htm

install them both and try playing the video

tell me if this helps

Where did you dream up the above BS of microsoft saying we are supposed to
help you!!

You bought an HP computer, it is HP's responsibility to fix hardware AND
software problems.

Contact HP!

For what file types?
What graphic / video card do you have?
What video card driver version do you have?
