Windows 8 updates not downloading

I am trying to install the Windows 8 updates so that I can install Windows 8.1. (The following problem is for the Windows 8 update installation, NOT the upgrade to Windows 8.1) When I go to download the updates, it just says "Downloading 90 updates (0KB total, 0% complete)", and it will not actually download anything.
