I'm curious: has Win 8Server 2012 "tightened" security over Win 7? If so, is there an article describing this?

P.S I was looking for an Antivirus solution for Win Server 2012 and ran across this insightful pdf (Win 8)

They show the results of running the Win Upgrade Assistant (several common apps failed) and talk about Microsoft redoing APIs which causes developers headaches. I suspect that despite the very similar
looking Win 8 Desktop (similar to Win 7) that there may be some deeper architectural changes that aren't so evident.
