Windows 8 - Removing Apps and App Groups from start screen - broken after removing short cuts

I tried to remove an entire group of start items from the &quotall apps&quot start screen. I followed a link to a shortcut and removed the short cut. I have already removed the app. (actually an entire group of apps, Qt 5.0.0). Now the Qt 5.0.0 &quotstart
group&quot is still on the start screen, and when I click on any item, it goes to the desktop. How do I remove these zombies from the start screen? Thanks for any help in advance.
