Windows 8 laptop won't turn on to the desktop

I was using my laptop normally, until the keyboard stopped working. I tried to restart the laptop, but the screen froze, so I removed the battery. Now when I try to turn it on, I press the power button and it lights up for about 20 seconds then goes dark. Also, the key for safe boot won't work either. Help please?
