On the bottom left corner there is the Start button which brings me back and forth the apps screen and the desktop. To its right, there's a button, with a home icon in circle, which has always been loading. As in, when I mouse over the icon wanting to click it (to bring me to the normal home menu like in Windows 7), my mouse arrows turns into a rotating circle (which means it's loading). And it's loading from the moment I start up until I've used it for >5 hours (and yes it's still loading even till now).
It's been like that since my second attempt at starting up the laptop. So yeah I've seen it work once, but only that once, on my very first encounter with both my laptop and with Windows 8.
I'm using Windows 8.1 on a laptop that I've only just purchased last week.
