windows 8 error message your pc ran into a problem and partition missing

SANDEEPTIWARY

I have a 4 partitions on my HDD. The drive D: had some songs being played on VLC, and then all of a sudden there was an error message on the screen saying your PC ran into a problem and partition d: goes missing. However, I tried checking on disk management, the drive is there with the same space but can't do much with it. Most of the options are grayed out.Don't know what to do, have other important files there. Help please!!
