Windows 10 and iPhone X Bluetooth

I have watched YouTube but am not understanding how to pair and transfer from to and from these devices using Bluetooth.
Could you please assist?
I do see where the PC recognizes my phone and where the phone recognizes the PC. I cannot get a transfer to work. I was using a word file and "send to" then I tried a photo from the phone to the PC..
 
Make sure you have the share settings correct in Windows. That's the only thing I can think of. I can transfer files from my phone without a problem.
 
Do you mean share at the top of the page?
If you want to send a file from the PC to the phone via BT please, if you would not mind taking a moment, just name the basic steps you take.

If he hacked his iPhone or iPad, yes. Otherwise no (and it would not be recommended that you do so). You can use intermediates like OneDrive, Dropbox, Google to store files in a cloud system and access them on both devices. You can use iTunes and a cable to transfer files (Use iTunes to share files between your computer and your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch).

There may apps in the App Store that, from within the app, may offer some BT transfer to Windows or a companion app in Windows but that will not allow transfer of files to any other App on your iOS device.

iOS does not have an open or user accessible file system to transfer files to either, so iOS has never supported generic BT FTP transfers. iOS uses a security model known as “sandboxing” so Apps do not have shared access to each others file space, and there is no general external access to iOS file space - files have to be associated with a specific app so that app can store them in its discrete and private storage space.
 
This is how I enable file transfers via bluetooth.
  1. Make sure bluetooth is turned on in Windows 10.
  2. Make sure bluetooth is turned on on the iPhone.
  3. On the Windows 10 computer go to settings > bluetooth and look for your phone. If you use the creators edition of Windows 10 then use add a device to find your phone.
  4. When the phone shows select pair the device. Make sure the code is the same on computer and phone.
To share files open go the phone and select the files you want to share.
In the options you'll see bluetooth. Select it, then select your computer.

That should do it.
 
The PC shows my phone as paired but when I click on the phone where it shows the desktop it say this operation is not possible.
 
I just tested my iPhone X to see if I could transfer files. I had no problems. The steps above are what I used to pair the phone and test transfers. I'm not sure why you can't. I would guess that you have a permission wrong either on computer or on phone.
 
Try this.
  1. In the taskbar click on the bluetooth icon.
  2. Select send file.
  3. Your iPhone should show up.
  4. Select it.
  5. A file browser will show so you can select a file.
  6. Select a file and transfer it.
You can also select receive a file to transfer one from the phone.
 
You are making progress - when I do as you say all goes well but the connection is not established
Somehow the pairing or connection is not established.
Bluetooth cannot find the PC on the phone but the PC can find the phone and it says paired with Peters phone.
On the phone it just buffers looking for the PC.
I either have a setting wrong on the PC or the phone. I wonder why all the Apple people say this cannot be done. Maybe it is the iPhone X R?

I noticed on the phone under privacy>Bluetooth sharing, there is nothing.

Go to the bluetooth setting on the computer and use find my device again. On the phone go to settings bluetooth. When the computer finds your phone a box will popup with a number. The same thing will happen on the phone. Make sure the numbers match. On the phone you'll be asked to allow access. Select yes. Transfers should work.

I have done this on 2 different Windows 10 installs and it worked without a problem.
 
At last a name came up on the phone instead of buffering .I do not recognize the name and says pairing unsuccessful.
My PC does not appear as the phone just buffers.
 
Do you have face id and password >attention features enabled or not?
I ask because when ours is enabled we cannot hear the ringer so it is off..
I am groping.
Sorry to be doubtful of your ability but all the Apple folks said no to this. They are apparently wrong.
If I did a reset to fix the settings which should it be and what would happen?

I used my wife's identical phone and it immediately was found the desktop but when I clicked on it, it said pairing unsuccessful as it is not supported.
 
I thought you'd like to know that what Apple told me seems to be right. I tried my Galaxy and immediately transferred my photo, unlike the iPhone.
FTP is not supported by Apple.
 
I don't know what the problem is. Mine connects and I can transfer files to the computer and back. I don't know why Apple would tell you it's not possible when I can do it and many others can also do it.

If you follow the steps I outlined it will work unless you have some kind of permission errors. I have done this successfully on 2 different computers with my iPhone X and my iPhone 7 to test to make sure it worked.
 
Do you have Windows 10? Do you have iPhone X? Mine is XR. I hate yo reset the phone but I would like to see it work. Like I said it was perfect with Google but cannot find my PC half the time and says operation not possible. The PC has to be OK as it worked with the old Galaxy.
Either the XR cannot do it or I have a wrong setting. My wife's cannot do it either and her phone is the same as mine. I use OneDrive when I transfer so it is not necessary but I would like to get to the bottom. If you were to reset anything, what setting would you start with then what next.
In other words how would you go about troubleshooting? I am disabled so this is wearing but I am also persistent.
Would you agree the iPhone has to be he problem?

    I cannot do that with an iPhone.

    Apple says it does not support that. However, a mod of a forum insists he has the same equipment and can do so with the iPhone.

    I do not usually need BT to do so as I have other means such as Onedrive etc, but, to resolve this, I wanted to know if someone here has both the iPhone x and Windows 10 and can send a file from the PC to the iPhone with BT?

    Please, the point is not means of transfer but to conclude whether it can be done or not.

I thought you would find this of interest. I don't mean to be rude but I think you either have tricked your phone or have an android one.
 
I was wondering if everyone who contributed had both iPhone XR with Windows 10?
I also wanted to add that Bluetooth works flawlessly in the car with Apple Car Play as it should.
I conclude from Apple report and personal experience that the phone and PC are OK but Apple has a different way of doing things. It is tight but less prone to insecurity. I guess you cannot have it both ways.
