Window XP(Home) : How to fix unresponsive programs ?

Dear Sir,

After using Window XP (Home Edition) with SP2 for the last 3 years, I find
that the following problem always happen.

After booting or in the midst of using MS Outlook Express and Internet
Explorer 7, the program becomes unresponsive and need to send error messages
to Microsoft.

I always hope that in someday after certain MS Window updates this problem
could be fix. So far it did not happen.

At time I sent up to 25-30 error messages as I could not end the program.
During this situation I always have to off my PC manually.

May I know if there is a way to overcome this problem ?

I assume that you don't mean that the problem has been going on for
three years.

The First Question Of Troubleshooting: what changed between the time
things worked and the time they didn't?

The Second Question of Windows Troubleshooting: what is the
malware/virus status of the machine? If you think it is clean, what
programs (and versions) did you use to determine this?

Here are the answers to your two questions:

Q1: The First Question Of Troubleshooting: what changed between the time

If i click to launch MS Outlook or Internet Explorer just immediately after
XP booted up.This problem would occur. If I wait until the Norton Antivirus
to completed the start up scan (When Norton Icon appears at the bottom tool
bar), The chances of this happening is greatly reduced. This problem also
less likely just immediately after after I done the a compete disk check and
fix error plus disk fragmnentation.

I suggest getting rid of Norton since it is so invasive and dreadful. It
is probably causing your issues. Recommended antivirus programs are
NOD32, Kaspersky, and even Avast if you want a free one. Then you will
use the built-in Windows Firewall. Along with your Windows Defender, you
should be just fine then.
