Question:

We have a TS licensing server & TS server in our west coast forest and
would like to add a TS to our east coast forest. Do we need a
seperate licensing server in the east coast forest or should we be
able to use our current west coast licensing server? Both forest are
AD and there is a trust relationship.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Licenses server cannot be shared across forests unless the license
server is in a workgroup.

That is not quite correct. See:

Prior to W2k3 SP2 the forest trust had to support Kerberos. Beginning
with SP2 the trust can also be external (NTLM).

I hope this helps.

As a further addition:
Helge is right that the problem with external trusts is fixed in
SP2, but for those who want to stay on SP1 and only use the hotfix,
there's a newer hotfix which replaces 905687:
