Win Firewall - Can't be found, yet is running

Hi,

hope someone has a solution for this pesky problem.

Am trying to turn OFF Win firewall, yet it's nowhere to be found. (Yes, it
is on and running) except for a shortcut link which also does not show up
(C:\ProgramData\MicrosofWindows\StartMenu\Programs). No folder (hidden
included) exists for it anywhere and it has no icon in the control panel
either.

Any link found with: "Open Windows Firewall", meets with stoic
non-compliance. After some digging I came up with the following error message:

" MMC could not create the snap-in. The snap-in might not have been
installed correctly.

Name: Windows Firewall with Advanced Security

CLSID: FX:{b0556ac-fe9c-4368-be02-7a4cbb7cbe11} "

Any suggestion? Thanks!

Hi Mark

thanks for the reply, but the link leads to an error page.
Would you please post the correct one?

Thanks,

Hi Nonny,

Did you read it was NOWHERE to be found? That meant in the security center
as well. Any links TO the firewall displayed in there wont work, as I also
mentioned.

But thanks for trying.

Many posters here are dumber than a bag of rocks and when they say
"nowhere" they mean that they haven't found it yet.

You are obviously not one of them -)

I went to the site suggested by Mark without any problems. Just in case you had a typo, I'm repeating the pertinent info:
+++++++++++++++++++++
Following specifically mentions Windows Firewall:

The link worked for me too, after another try, BUT....

1) The solution is for (I have Home Premium):

• Windows Vista Business
• Windows Vista Enterprise
• Windows Vista Ultimate

2) When it comes to the registry I have no clue what to do. So I wont mess
with it.

Any other suggestions on how to fix this dilemma?
