Will Windows Defender and Firewall protect against infections?

Can any one tell me if windows defender and windows fire wall will protect my computer from gameover zose and the other one that locks up your computer for 72 hours and if you don't pay the ransom it destroys all what you have on your computer I think it is called coinit or cornbit
