Hi everyone!
My friend was running a dual-boot Ubuntu / Windows 8.1 laptop with dual RAID HDDs. It seems like a BIOS error is causing a GRUB error and preventing the system from booting at all while also disabling the ability to boot from devices other than the RAID.
What we'd like to do is wipe his RAID and re-install only Windows 8 (if we can manage to boot to a setup disk at some point) so he can go back to 8.1 via online update - my main question is if his original Windows 8 product key was delivered through Microsoft DreamSpark, will it still be valid for a clean re-installation on this same machine or are they one-time use codes?
We're not in a situation where we can back his RAID up so I need to know for sure before we proceed. Thanks in advance for your help!
