Just found out that my 5 year old desktop can not be upgraded to Windows 8 from XP because of an incompatible bios.
Already discussed this issue elsewhere
Like a lot of home users the desktop was used for more serious work like Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Photo editing high quality pictures.
What are the opinions on just letting a high quality antivirus like Bitdefender do the protecting and just letting go that Microsoft will no longer support security updates for XP. I know that one possibility is just keep disconnected from the internet forever. Just wondering.
