my screen resolution is 640 by 480 and I cant use my computer when it is like
this. I also cant put my color quality above 16 bits. I tried useing
everything in the troubleshooter but none of them worked. It changed to this
when i was cleaning my hard drive off. I deleted a program call Intel extreme
graphics and then my computer restarted and it had a resolution of 640 by 480
and it wouldnt go higher. i really need help please!

You must install the video card hardware driver from (obviously) Intel.
(You may be able to get it directly from the manufacturer of the entire
computer's website - particularly if this is a Dell/HP/IBM/etc. Just let us
know the make/model and I am sure someone can help you out with more
details.)

I have a dell dimension desktop. It is running windows xp and has the
origonal parts hardware etc.

How is this related to Windows Update, Dustin?

Since there are lots and lots and lots of Dell Dimension models, you haven't
given enough information.
However, your symptoms indicate that you did not install the Dell graphics
card driver. You download the
Dell system specific drivers for the hardware on your computer from Dell
(and nowhere else).

Make and Model.
That's why I said that.

If you walked into an autoparts store and said "I have a Chevrolet" and you
want a specific part critical to the function/design of the car - guess
what - they will want the model (probably the year and other information.)

Here's where you are at:
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs

Choose your make and model there. Or enter your service tag...

And maybe at that time the monitor supplied with that
model only supported 640x480 so the graphics driver
only supports 640x480.
Did it ever go above 640x480?
As it's a desktop it is probably a Dell badged graphics
card, and worth taking a chance on replacing
]the graphics card, assuming it's not on board,
graphics in which case you will have to sort how
to use a separate card.

help me
