Why does Windows Movie Maker produce an MP4 Video and Microsoft DVD Maker will not accept it???

I have Windows 7, I downloaded Windows Essentials, and after 2 weeks I got 2 movie clips in MP4 Video Format. I used the suggested format because DVD format was not clear. Now I want to burn a DVD with Microsoft DVD Maker and it will not accept MP4 Video? Why?
