I downloaded the file, then uploaded to Virustotal.com and the file is clean.

You can run a quick checksum, and see if you got the same file I did.

File size: 5193032 bytes

MD5 : 4fda65a8b645133dd027fdaf9da53bac

SHA1 : 0bfbb13414aa11a751c61e6a2db55e2e242bd0cc

SHA256: 3b911fcd76ba09d4eb40d842f568930dca6383ca98d7a8cf4c7ce8dd7dc8b31f

Make sure you downloaded the correct file for your OS, as I see three options for

things to download. I have WinXP 32 bit, which is why I would download the x86 version.

If you need a tool to compute a checksum, try FCIV from Microsoft. It is supposed to

support MD5 and SHA1. I ran FCIV on the file I downloaded, and it agrees with the

checksums shown on Virustotal. Instead of uploading entire files to Virustotal, it

is also possible to search their site, using only the checksum value as a key, and

get a virus report that way. That saves time, if you're limited to dialup networking.

It's probably a false positive on the part of Norton.

The fix is to get rid* of Norton and replace it with a free alternative.

* If you CAN get rid of it. Norton is the barnacle of the software world.

look up "false positive"
