When I center text, I cannot get back to left justify for the rest of the text in WordPad.

I know how to center in Word Pad; however, when I center text, I cannot get back to left justify for the rest of the text. Everything I type following a centered heading is also centered. If I left justify that text, the centered heading goes back to left margin. Any info out there?
