Hey guys, I am not sure if this thread belongs her so if not please move to whichever forum, thanks.

Hearing now about the ipad pro being virus free, one thing come to mind, whatever technology they are using for this may soon be used in windows then virus cleaning will eventually become obsolete?

iPads run on the same OS as the iPhone, IOS. The reason why there hasn't been any virus that target it is because all apps submitted to the app store are checked before they are listed. It is an intense process. So if you download only from the Apple store your chances of getting infected with something are next to 0.

Thanks but not getting why if on an ipad when you visit the net and download stuff that you won't get a virus? Or are you saying that no matter which site someone visits to dl stuff or opens any emails e.t.c all of this will be pre-checked for viruses by Apple before the virus can attack their machine?

Sadly this will never happen.
Windows won't be able to use the same technology as Apple, because of copyrights.
Also the theory of non infected Ipad is just that ... a theory.
Admittedly your chances of becoming infected are very low if you only use the Apple Store.
People being what they are... some will always 'Jailbrake' an Ipad, thinking they are being clever.
This then opens them to malware.
Also, no company.... Apple or Microsoft, are perfect.
There have been occasions where the OS has bugs that may allow hackers to gain access to the OS.
Also people sometimes connect their Ipads etc to their PC's...... malware could well be passed on this way.

They once said that you never need security on a Linux system ....... been proved wrong.
They once said that a Mac never needed security .... also been proved wrong.
While there are hackers etc out there.... no OS will ever be safe.
If there's a way... they'll find it.

This Nasty New Malware Can Infect Your Apple iPhone or iPad

Thanks for clarifying. I still don;t understand why someone would only use an Apple Store, don't people with ipads surf the net, download stuff and open emails so how would they be protected from malware?
