Hi once again,

after earlier posts, I now have Avast Free Home Edition installed and have
successfully removed AVG (after having issues running it on Vista Home
Premium), all seems well.
One other question I would appreciate advice with is currently I have both
Webroot Spysweeper installed as well as Spybot S&D (as advised in an earlier
post, I was told best to run both side by side). Is it really necessary
having these two programs running together, or would one or the other be
sufficient, I obviously use Defender as well.
Thank you again for your time and assistance.

Kind regards

Denise

There is nothing wrong with having Spysweeper & Spybot S&D on your PC as well
as Defender, but you should not have them actually running at the same time
as this may cause conflict, I currently use SB S&D, Adware and Defender as
you may be aware Defender runs in the background. Use each one individually
but not at the same time, no one malware, spyware program will detect
everything but what one misses the other may catch.

I have stopped recommending Spysweeper as it seems to have gone the way of
Norton and MacAfee and turned into a resource hogging piece of bloatware,
slowing down every machine I see it installed on.

I used Webroot's Spysweeper on XP without problems. However, I found
the new version to be a bloated resource hog and for some reason it just
wouldn't work properly on Vista regardless of what Webroot says. In any
event, I removed it from my computer. I've decided against buying anything
from Webroot again due to their very poor customer support and technical
support. Their support is absolutely terrible. It takes forever to get an
answer and the standard answers are always "uninstall and reinstall the
product" or "uninstall and reinstall your operating system".
I use Windows Defender and the paid edition of AVG AntiSpyware. I run
them both in real time and I run them both at the same time with no
conflicts. You can run two AS programs in real time together and whether or
not they conflict with each other depends on the products. Some will have
conflicts and some will not. I also use Spybot S&D and SuperAntiSpyware on
an occasional basis but I don't let them run at startup.
