Want to install Windows 7 on different partition..current OS Windows XP

Hello,


I want to install Windows 7 on different drive.. i have checked my system compatibility by upgrade advisor. It advised me to do custom installation. But, i want to keep Windows XP with Windows 7. Is it OK to install windows 7 without performing clean installation. Will it affect XP.
