I had a Dell 2.4Ghz Ce;eron for years. It became flaky. I bought an ASRock
barebones system with Via as the chipmaker. Rge dual nature of the board
allowed me to upgrade easy. My PCI video card would not transfer nice - so
I bought a GeForce 6200 and while fantasroc for me - it will not support
vista at premium level/

The card works fantasric under XP - Vista sucks - I have a 24-pin Dot
Matric printer frp, 3.1 days - so I will bring HD along - eventually.

I can run Ubuntu = what does Vista need for real?

Igb memory
Geforce 6200 Agp Card w/256mb
etc

Does the video card actually have 256 Meg *on board*? Or does it really have
64 meg or less *on board* and shares main memory for the rest?
The enhanced visual features of Vista (Areoglass, etc.) require that your
video card have at least 128 meg *on board* and minimum 1 Gig main memory
*in addition to* the video card memory.
As the 6200 is the low end of the 6000 series, your card/memory combination
is probably not up to snuff.
As Andrew said, the Vista Upgrade Advisor would have told you that, I
believe.
