Hi,

I have a laptop with Vista Home edition on and Vista does not recognize the
DVD drive anymore (it did up to a week ago). It even does not assign a letter
to the drive, although the DVD drive itself is up to date. This happened
after some Windows updates that downloaded on my computer. The laptop was
bought new this January.

Any help will be very appreciated.

Thanks,

Monica

Click Start, type:
devmgmt.msc
Go to Start/Run, and type DEVMGMT.MSC , highlight the DVD drive device,
Action menu, "Uninstall", (do Not put a check in 'delete driver") then
Action menu,"scan for hardware changes", to find the device drivers again
automatically.
