Ever since I installed Vista SP1, security center reports that my antivirus,
AVG 7.5.519 is turned off.
The antivirus program is fully functional and up to date.
I am have to select self monitoring to negate the annoying pop up message.
I have uninstalled AVG and reinstalled with no effect.

O.S. = Vista home premium 32bit.

Does anyone know what the cause is and how to correct it?

Not sure about this. However, I would uninstall/reinstall AVG and see what
happens.

Try to fix the repository.

Method 1:
winmgmt /verifyrepository

If WMI repository is reported to be inconcistent, run the following command:
winmgmt /salvagerepository

Method 2 (forced rebuild):
net stop winmgmt /y
cd %windir%\system32\wbem\
ren repository repository.old

Then restart.
