Hello, I recently purchased a Gateway GM5472, with Vista Home Premium. I have
Dish Network and went through the Media Center TV signal setup. The Live TV
works and records fine on my PC, but the remote that came with my gateway
will not change the channel. I can use my DISH Network remote and change the
channel on my Dish box, and that changes the channel I see on my PC, but I am
forced to watch the same program on my TV and PC.

Basically I want to have 1 channel on my TV and another on my PC at the same
time. Is this possible? My gateway has a TV tuner, and I have the Microsoft
infrared Transciever in USB port.

Also I have my splitter after the Dish Network video out jack, one to tv and
other to my PC.

I am assuming that this Dish Network is a satellite network, and you are
connecting the satellite decoder box to your TV-card with a co-axial cable?

Does this TV-card just have a terrestrial analogue TV tuner?

yes Dish Network is a satellite, and I have coaxial cable. I have a spiltter
from decoder box video out, 1 coaxial cable to PC, other coaxial to TV. The
media center remote changes the channels on media center display, but the
channel does not change. This is the gateway system I have:

http://www.gateway.com/retail/gm5472.php

TV Tuner6
Analog/digital TV tuner w/ 3-D comb (PCIe)
Ports: (1) analog TV, (1) ATSC antenna, (1) stereo mini-jack audio, (1)
S-Video, plus S-Video to Composite Video Dongle, Vistaâ„¢ Media Center remote
control

not sure if that is a terrestial tuner.

So you have a splitter on the *output* of your satellite decoder box, and
you are feeding the RF signal through a co-axial cable into a normal
analogue/digital tuner TV-card and expecting it to be able to view any
channel independently of what is selected on the decoder box?

What do you think the decoder box does?

Hauppauge used to sell this satellite TV-card called Nexus, in the European
market, that could take a SIM card and be used with satellite subscriber
networks, but they seem to have discontinued it now. However, it would have
to be used with the splitter *before* the decoder box, in your situation, of
course. Now they only seem to sell a simpler card with a satellite tuner
called Nova, which hasn't got a SIM card module, so can only be used with
free networks.

As you are in the US (you have a NTSC/ATSC tuner) I do not know what your
options are other than getting a second decoder box from your satellite
company and using that for the PC.

Call Gateway this is a problem with that model.. I have the same problem
if it even detects that tuner.. it is a problem with Gateway and I have
called and called and now I Am on the phone again.. possible upgrade to
new motherboard from a new model..

I am upset about this..
