Vista boot fallback

After installing Vista Ultimate w/sp1 on my MacPro, the normal start up was
to be presented with the choose the OS screen which included Vista Ultimate
and also Vista Business (recovered).

I have no idea where Vista Business came from, it was a clean install.

My problem is that all of a sudden I don't get the choose the OS screen and
it goes into fall back. It does finally boot and the desktop seems the same.
My RC flight simulator wants me to enter all the serial numbers again, but
everything else seems to work. It still claims to be Vista Ultimate.
When I go to Control panel/System/advanced/Startup and recovery there is
only one choice for the default startup OS. Vista Business (recovered).
I haven't set any restore points (I will next time)

Any Ideas?
Thanks
Bob Beatty

I understand that you don't have a real problem other than wanting the OS
choices to reflect reality. If so, use bcdedit to change the name of the
{default} operating system. "Bcdedit /?" for instructions.

Cheers,

Earle

Or VistaBoot Pro 3.3 which is very simple to use. It also has capabilities
of cleaning up the BCD store.

Actually I am a little concerned that I don't get the choice anymore and it
drops into "fallback". Being a mac use and pretty stupid about windows (it's
the games man)

I don't understand:
Why this would happen
Where did Vista business (recovered) come from
What happened to Vista Ultimate. It must still be there as it boots and
claims to "ultimate" when booted.

It's all greek to me...

Have you asked in the Boot Camp discussion group on Apple.com/Support? I
have a MacBook Pro also and have gotten some pretty good advice from the
folks who hang out there.

Since it really has nothing to do with the Mac I thought this would be a
better place to ask but I'll give it a shot.

Thanks

The (recovered) BCD item is created when you boot from the Vista DVD,
select Repair your computer, Windows then finds problems with your
computer's startup options, and you choose to repair the problems.

You can use the bootrec /scanos command to see what OS is detected.
<http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392>
You can use the bootrec /rebuildbcd command to recreate the BCD store.
