Viewing pictures on a Surface RT

While editing pictures on my Surface RT, I changed the view to the "paint" view to try to correct something. I cannot get out of the "paint" view. Any ideas? I want to get back to "normal viewing". I have tried removing the flash drive the pictures were on, shutting the tablet down. All pictures, even those stored on tablet are stuck in "paint view".
