I have thumbnails for some,but not all,of my video files in windows media
player. Is there a way to add them for all?

Good question.
I have about 150 video clips on my computer: home videos and promo videos.
So when I opened Video>Library>All Video (in the WMP Library view) I would
get 150 thumbnails. Some with a photo of the video clip and some with that
Windows generic photo.
I wanted to avoid having to go into Program Files or regedit so I performed
some simple steps to “clean-up†the WMP video Library and to get all the
photo thumbnails for the video clips back:
1) Made sure the Hidden attribute of the video clips were unchecked.
2) Some videos were listed in the WMP library but had been deleted from the
drive days ago. I opened up the List view (right pane) of WMP Library view
and deleted these from the List.
3) Any video folders that I had recently moved were moved back to their
original places.
4) Went to Indexing Options and made sure that the location of my video
files were included in the search index. (I think that this move was the most
helpful.)
5) Went back to WMP Library view and played a few seconds of some of the
video clips and then returned to Library view. I repeated this a few times.
After a few minutes , all thumbnails appeared. As of now, every time I open
WMP and look at the thumbnails in Library view each video clip has a photo
thumbnail.
All together this took me about 10 - 15 minutes.
There may be a more direct and faster way of fixing the problem, but if
there is, the technical MS Website Help links aren’t telling me (or maybe I
couldn’t find it.) If there are any posters out there who can illuminate us
on how WMP refreshes its Library, I’d be interested.
