Actually that is the way to do it. Two Video cards (or a dual video card) and two monitors for a
multi screen display.

Are you asking whether you can have dual monitors using two video
cards instead of one dual-head video card?

Yes, you can do that. However, be aware of a couple of things:

1. Most motherboards have only a single slot for an AGP or PCIE card.
That means the second card has to be an IDE card, and you should
expect a performance hit doing this.

2. Some pairs of video cards will work together this way, but others
are not compatible. A dual-head card is always safer.

Richard and Ken have both provided answers to your question. I believe the
answer is the same for W98 machines.

FYI, this is an XP OS newsgroup. There are Win98 specific newsgroups. From
this link:
http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/list/en-us/default.aspx

Scroll to the microsoft.public.win98 entry in the left pane and expand it.
There are several win98 newsgroups to choose from.
