video card doing strange stuff unuseable

I have a nvidia 6800GT leadtek winfast A400 TDH DDR3 256mb card witch is able to run but is acting strange, I was playing a game and then it freezed but it still had sound also some of the colors where distorted, then it restarted, as the screen that shows information about the graphics card came up it strangely counted how many megabytes the video card had, witch it never had before it also didn't show any of the letters or words right, and rather than showing just a little bit a information in the upper left corner of the screen it showed a hole screen of unreadable symbol's, however it did show correctly a website address www.leadtek.com witch it never showed before I can't use the card because when it gets to the desktop it either donsn't show anything and the monitor button goes to yellow rather than green or it dons't show any of the colors or words right, I know its not my system because I tried it on my fathers PC and it still had the same problem also I don't think its my power supply because I have been running it on my 300watt for about 5 months with no problems plus my fathers system isn't as fast or power hungry as my PC and his has a 350watt PSU I also have the latest nvidia drivers 71.89 and directx 9.0c I'm currently running a nvidia FX5600 witch works fine with my system, there is not one place with my 6800gt except the windows loading screen where it show words or colors right.

It sounds like something rather bad has happened to the card. Since even the BIOS readout is messed up, I'd say you should call the manufacturer for a warranty replacement. I'm particularly thinking that it is a defective card because you are experiencing the artifacting during the boot process, even on another machine, removing thoughts of mobo problems or heat problems. Since it is a fairly new card, I'm thinking RMA (warranty replacement) shouldn't be a problem at all.

man i got a ati Radeon 64mb graphics card thats giving me alot of trouble.when install the drivers in my dell computers and when i go into add and remove it shows the driver but doesnt show how much mb it takes and it doesnt even make my games look better i need help with this shit man.so if anyone could help me holl at me at (Ja SuperStar19)cuz i tried everthing with this card i update everything lol.

I guess I'm a little confused by what you mean here. by "mb" do you mean the amount of "RAM" it will draw ?? This is only in INTERGRATED grapics cards that you would see that.

Also could you please list which model of Dell that it is, and if its onboard video originally, or did you swap out the video card that was in it... and ALSO is the monitor plugged into the new card, or is it plugged into the onboard video port. I know that might seem like a silly question, but I just wanted to cover it before continueing, I have seen many people by a new graphics card for there PC, yet still have there monitor plugged into the intergrated graphics because they didn't know any different.
