video card compatibility

I recently installed a new nVidia GeForce 7600GS 512MB graphics card and man
does it rock! However, one of my absolute favorite older games Crimson
Skies, does not seem to be compatible with it. The only way it will run
properly is in "software render" mode on the configuration page inside the
game(640X480 resolution is positively unacceptable). When I try to use
"primary display driver" I get multi-colored bars in all of the choices of
the preferences page and the actual gameplay video is completely screwed up.
Is there ANY way to rectify this situation?

Install this update and note that the game is not designed for WinXP.

In addition, try to run that game in compatibility mode. If this doesn't
help, repost to this group (via Newsreader):

Already have the patch installed. Already tried compatibility mode for all
other operating systems-no luck. Also, this game has always run just fine on
XP until I installed the new video card. Since this game is older, my video
card is not listed on the "cards supported/not supported" list. That's why I
was wondering if there was some other way to "force" compatibility?

As for WinXP measures, no. As for specific settings of your video driver,
may be. That's why you might be better off when reposting to the group as
mentioned above. Good luck.
