I have a full back-up of my old XP computer on a Seagate external hard drive. When I plug it into my new Windows 8.1 computer I can see the various folders but can't open them.

access this folder", and finally takes me to a screen that tells me I don't have permission to access it "even as an administrator". The is takes me to a set of "change" screens that make no sense.
Anyone have any idea what's going on?
