I bought a USB to PS/2 converter. I am running Windows XP SP2. If I plug
the Keyboard (PS/2 connector) and mouse (also PS/2 connector) into the
converter and plug the conveter into a USB port, the system does not
recoginze the keyboard or mouse on boot up. Any ideas?

Thanks,

If the keyboard and mouse are not programmed for USB use, as all the old PC
hardware was not, they will not work with any converter. I just had that
problem with an old, bulletproof keyboard from my IBM PS/1. I bought a
cheap keyboard at Wal-Mart that works OK with the converter.

While USB to PS/2 almost always works, PS/2 to USB almost never works.

Are the keyboard and mouse specifically designed to work with a USB
converter? If not, you're wasting your time.
