My XP Desktop fails to recognise this phone (H/W install Wizard etc.)
despite installing the supplied software as suggested etc..

Both phone and software work fine on my XP Laptop PC.. Any sensible
suggestions welcome.

Hi Michael,

Try to the other USB ports in the system and see if the device is detected. If you're using an USB hub, disconnect it and try connecting it directly to the system. Also, check the status of USB devices in the Device Manager. See if it's listed as an "Unknown device". To make sure that this is not a problem with the USB controller, try connecting another device (such as camera, flash drives etc) and see if they're detected by the system.

Thanks for answering Ramesh,
It's detected alright as a 'Skype Phone' but it then looks for the driver
and although the supplied software is installed and the CD is still in the
drive, cannot find a driver and gives up saying the device may not work
correctly etc. And of course although phone has power it doesn't work
correctly.

On the laptop the sound is diverted to the phone and it all works correctly
using the same phone and the same CD

I've tried on all USB ports with the same results.. I have many other
USB devices working correctly..

This may not apply, but I thought it was worth a try.

XP asks for USB drivers:

Thanks Joe,
I'll take a look into this later this evening or early tomorrow and get
back to you.

This file is also in this folder on the Desktop but I guess for some reason
the association in the registry is incorrect somewhere.. I'm still
looking into this.
Could it be because this is a dual boot machine (both XP) not currently
running in partition C.. C is all but empty now though there are some
program files still located there.
