When I connect an external USB hub to any of the USB ports on my AMD64 system running XP Pro SP2, it is not recognized as a hub but as an unknown USB device and the system asks for a driver to run it. When the same hub is connected to several other systems it comes up as a USB hub and starts working, but not on the AMD64 system. The same is true for another known working USB hub.
What could cause the AMD64 system not to see it as a hub and ask for a driver for an unkown USB device? More importantly, what can I do to get it to work? The hub vendor says no driver is needed (which I think is correct, since XP has it built in).
I'm baffled. Any help would be appreciated.
