Hi I need your help.

I have 2 USB HDDs: seagate ultra-ata 100G, and samsung serial-ata 160G.

My problem is, when I pluged them into Vista, They worked fine. But
after that, the second morning, I pluged them in, Vista is HANG!
nothing appear! The indicator outside HDD hub indicated the HDDs is not
connect, but I can hear them is "running". When I unplug them, Vista
back to normal. It is wired!

I tried them on a XP professional computer, both of them is working! It
is not the problem of the HDDs.

What is the problem? How can I fix it? Thank you for your help!

Are you not using external power supplies? Does it work when you only have
one connected? It's possible that they are not getting enough power if you
have more USB devices connected to the computer compared to before.

First of all, an SATA external drive is not an "USB" drive, unless you
connect it via an USB cable . It is an EXTERNAL SATA drive, and will
work best plugged into an external SATA port. You might try
installing a cable to an external SATA port, then it will work at its
highest transfer speed.

It's even possible to install Windows on an eSATA drive (if it is
connected via an eSATA cable to the back of your computer) and BOOT
from it, which is NOT possible with a REAL "USB drive".

It's always a good idea to disconnect external drives when booting
into Windows, then reconnect them once at the Desktop.
