This problem just developed.
USB drives such as flash and Western Digital Passport are no longer
recognized in "My Computer".
However they are recognized under Hardware Devices and by my Disk Management
program.
Please help. Thank you.

And do they have a letter in Disk Management? Maybe you assigned the
same letter to a network drive?

No Bob. The drive letter is unique, local and still the same as it was when
"My Computer" once recognized it.

if that letter is missing in My Computer, go to Microsoft Downloads and
Power toys and get TweakUI. Use that to UNhide the drive letter.

Just a thought .... these devices are partitioned/formatted are they?

Yes they have been formatted and partitioned. And, incidentally, they work
fine on my wife's laptop.
