Has anyone got any tricks or tips for resolving this issue? It's happended to
me a few times I connect a specific usb device I get the "USB Device Not
Recognised" bubble popup. Usually I try a few basics, different usb port,
uninstalling reinstalling usb drivers, the usb device always works if I try
it in another computer but that specific computer seems to record it as
faulty and won't let it be used anymore on that computer.

Perhaps you are trying to use USB 2.0 in a USB 1.1 system. If XP is not using
a Service Pack it will not include the 2.0 stuff. I would try reinstalling
your SP2.

Google "usb.inf". Download the file and place it in tyour Windows>Inf folder.
It solved the long and drawn otu problem I had with certain usb devices not
being recognized.
