USB device connecting and disconnecting

I am running Vista Home Premium SP1. I have 4 users on this PC, and one
of these users has a problem with a USB connected MP3 player. When the
device is plugged in, it is initially recognised, and the files appear
in Explorer, but a few seconds later it disconnects, then reconnects,
and so on ad infinitum. Under the other users, it works perfectly! I
have tried changing the Autoplay options, and switching Autoplay off
altogether, but to no avail. There is nothing I am aware of that is
different about the user with the problem (except that, needless to
say, this user is the one who owns the MP3 player in question). Any
ideas please?

Just a thought...but it could be a corrupted user account.
