Upgrade XP to Windows & Professional 32 bit from Dell Reinstallation disk on Non Dell laptop

I bought what I thought was a Windows 7 Professional operating system from an online vendor. I received a Dell Reinstallation DVD for Windows 7 Professional SP1 32-Bit, in a sealed envelop Dell P/N 04DTND, complete with the Microsoft COA sticker on it with a product key. Can I use this disk to upgrade my non Dell laptop from XP to Windows 7?
