Original Title: 2011 HP laptop with pre-installed 8.0: Should I risk updating to 8.1?
While trying to update an older Desktop with XP to Windows 8 I had a Microsoft tech spend 1 hour taking control of the computer and still the installation failed at 90% with no reboot. When I click on "failure window" computer just goes back to XP as if nothing happened. I am close to leaving in XP and disabling internet. Already checked for compatibility issues.
I went to this community site and found many having troubles updating from Windows 8 to 8.1 and from XP to Windows 8.
Question: Should I leave my good laptop (works fine as is) with Windows 8 alone and not give in to Microsoft's constant messages
to update to Window 8.1?
Are most of the problems with upgrading to 8.1 occurring on computers that are not already preloaded with Windows 8)?
Why would I update my good laptop with Windows 8.0 to 8.1 anyway?
