Update error 8000FFFF

I have Windows Vista and have my computer set to update files automatically. It has not updated since mid March, and when I try to update manually, I get an error message &quot8000FFFF&quot. When I select &quotfix it&quot, it asks me to restart, and will then appear
with the error message again.
