Unwelcome desktop "toolbar"

A few days ago I created an Unused Desktop Shortcuts folder. Works
great.

While accessing the folder today, a "toolbar" (?) suddenly appeared on the
top of the screen. It reads: Unused Desktop Shortcuts, the names of 5
of the items in the shortcut folder, and finally, "Unused Desktop Shortcuts"
(the latter provides access to all the items in the folder).

How do I get rid of this toolbar? Any idea how it got there? When moving
the icon, I wonder if I hit the top of the screen causing the toolbar to
install ...

Thanks!

Hi Lina,

I bet there's a lot of people that didn't realize they could turn any folder into a toolbar. lol.
You never know.... you may actually want to do that for real one day. :)

Take any folder on your machine, drag it and drop it on any side of your desktop (when half of the icon is visible). As you drop it, it immediately converts into a toolbar (there's no visual hint to tell you that this will happen). Once like that, you can do a simple click on any item to activate it exactly as if it were a button!

Thanks, Pete. That explains how I inadvertently created that task bar.

I had no idea, Pete.

You are not alone, Cindy. :woohoo:

After working years all day long with computers, my computer-savvy
son's daughter enlightened him about this tip:

To transfer or delete a bunch of entries at one time
- highlight the first item
- press and hold down Shift
- highlight the last entry (it and all previous entries will highlight,
all while holding down Shift)
- release Shift
- place cursor on any highlighted item, and delete or transfer
them - all at one time!
