Unable to delete or move email from my Outlook Express6 inbox.

I also am unable to delete or move email from my Outlook Express6 inbox. Attempts to do so strikes a line thru and unbolds who it’s “From”, the “Subject” and “Date” and it puts a red X on the envelope icon but it stays on my “inbox”.

Right click my inbox/properties/local file/delete will make them go away but only temporarily. The next time Outlook Express is rebooted all of the “deleted” emails reappear just as they were before.

I tried deleting "Deleted Items.dbx” file to no avail. Deleting that file did reduce that file size from 98,000+ KB to 75 KB (which I think represents the current dozen or so undeletable emails that won’t go away). (Side Question): I see my “inbox.dbx” file is also jammed with over 98,000 KB. If I delete this file, will O E make a new “Inbox.dbx” like it did with the "Deleted Items.dbx” file when O E is rebooted?

This problem started after my ISP walked me thru the switch from POP3 to IMAP. Perhaps there’s a setting or some box that that needs a check?

All the emails that I want to save have been forwarded to another address.

I don’t speak geek very well so go easy on me.
