Bloated? Hardly, unless you go hog crazy installing stuff.

Actually, most noobs should probably stay clear of Synaptic and use
Ubuntu's add & remove programs tool, until they know what they are doing.

It's much easier to use anyway.

My download is almost done...

1) looked in dictionary - could not find "ahs" - please define.

2) not familiar with "linsux" could you please provide a link - then I can
ascertain for myself if it's "poorly supported".

I already have it running and partially customized, looks good. Went
through the hardware tests, installed the nVidia advanced drivers to get
advanced look and feel. I like certain apps and development options so
after a visit to the package manager we are rock'in. Got the wobbly windows
and roll tab features. Love that WinKey-Tab... 64 bit too. Nice.

Was difficult to find a mirror that wasn't on it's knees. Found one that
was only 91% full on a 1G interface, it came though slow, but did come in.
Will probably ease up in a few days as everyone and their brother is
downloading it.

Could be. This site seems to show Ubuntu can some how install inside
Windows. Near the bottom of this link:

http://www.linuxformat.co.uk/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=682

In article <OZVeC7fpIHA.4736@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl>, sonny@nospam.com

About as slow as XP, has a lot of open source software available and as
long as you don't interact with Windows Office 2003/2007 for business
documents you'll be fine with Open Office in most cases. You need to
verify that your printer (if you have one) works with it, fully
supported, before you make the leap - as well as any scanners/hardware.

You will find the most popular games are not ported to Linux yet and
that many video cards may not have fancy drivers yet.

If you don't mind tinkering then Linux is a good platform, Ubuntu is
average for quality.

Out of ideas. You will have to tell us what items that make Ubuntu hard to
install. Certainly faster than Vista.

So was it using? Ubuntu is easy. Even has the glass on the non-hight-
lighted windows. Glass done right.

Unbuntu is easy. In less than 20 minutes, have a News Reader running,
pan, reminds me of Forte Agent or something. Neat, Frank can meet the
kill file. I think you can even get a MS-Windows version. I don't think
Vista mail has kill files does it?
