Twitter has quietly extended its translation feature, powered by Microsoft's Bing, to its iPhone and iPad apps, after previously including that option in its Android version.

The server-side update now allows users of those apps to view an option that, when tapped, displays a translated version of an individual tweet below that of the native language of the user. Twitter has yet to officially announce this new feature.

The move is yet another example of Microsoft expanding its Bing services beyond the web or its Windows platforms. Bing is already the default seach engine for Siri, and earlier in June it was revealed that Bing will also be used for web searches in the updated Spotlight feature included in OS X 10.10 Yosemite and iOS 8.

What do you think about Twitter extending its Bing translation services to the iPhone and iPad apps?
